I am a stay at home mom of a sweet little girl and her little baby brother! Madison was born in July 2004, and my life hasn't been the same ever since. I love staying home with her and Jonah and watching them change a little more with each day!

Sorry to leave you hanging!

Sorry to leave you hanging! magnify

First off... this is what she looked like after playing outside today! I had to drag her in because her nose was running all over the place and her cheeks were redder than I thought cheeks could be! Image

Back to the head injury... We were watching the Colts play Sunday afternnon while Maddie ran off some energysprinting from the living room to the kitchen and back. Oops... Jubilee's scratcher thing (really just a cardboard drink holder from McDonald's) is on the floor. Go around it Madison! BAM! She alls right into the corner of the staircase. Wow was it loud! I didn't even look at it at first I just hugged her. When I did look (all of 5 seconds later... felt like 5 hours) it was already a ginormous bump. Within 30 seconds it was black! Yikes! Curtis and I fumbled over what to do... I tried ice but she screamed and pushed it away. She stopped crying and laid her head on Curtis's shoulder looking really woozy. I know you are supposed to keep them awake for an hour after hitting their head, so we made sure she didn't doze off. I called the e.r. (waste of time, don't do it), and they told me all I could do was come in if I thought it was necessary. So we did. She was cranky pants super tired girl, and we waited in a little exam room forever. Finally they took her for a CT scan. Ugh... try holding a terrified 16 month old still for 5 seconds! Finally, they let both parents in with her (don't tell their boss, only one is allowed) and I sang Where is Thumbkin at the top of my lungs over her screaming. Apparently she was still enough for a good reading, which was normal. Thank you God! She got a handful of DumDums, and we went back to the room. The codeine, benadryl and screaming combined had pretty much worn her out, so she was happy to lean on Mommy in the rocking chair and watch football while we waited for the results. It was scary, but she is fine, not counting the "owie owie owie!" you get if you touch her head with any pressure at all.

Now I question why DumDums are on paper sticks... don't they know plastic sticks are much more durable?
