Pictures!

We went Monday night to have her pictures taken at Sears. She spent most of the day Monday in a fairly grumpy mood, so she didn't want to smile much. We did get one good smile, and the other pictures were cute even if she wasn't smiling. Of course, I think she's cute even if she is screaming her head off. Again, I am a little biased, though. Here is one I took of her Monday morning, and one Curtis took last night of her trying to drink out of Mommy's empty water bottle. Got to get her started on the healthy habits early!

3 months!

Madison is 3 months old today! I was going to wait and post later tonight after she gets her pictures taken, but now I have time to kill. She was lying on the bed next to me as I checked my email on the laptop, and she just totally zonked out. I don't want to try to move her into her own bed and have her wake up, but I can't leave her alone in here on the bed and have her roll right onto the floor. So I will probably post on here later to say how her first experience with a photographer went. Besides the hospital, of course, but that barely counts. She is sleeping through the night pretty much every night now. I think in the last week, she has only woken up once in the middle of the night. She gets onto her tummy and is so comfy she just doesn't want to wake up, I guess. I don't blame her, but I still wake up several times every night. I guess I'm just not used to her sleeping all night long yet. Maybe someday I will sleep 8 hours straight again! Well, I'm going to take some pictures of her myself today and of course her pictures tonight at Sears, so I will be on again either tonight or tomorrow to show her off some more.

She did it for real!

She rolled over for real last night. Curtis laid her down on her back, and she just flipped right over to her belly like she had been doing it all her life. Then she continued to do it all night long. While it freaked me out at the time, I wish I had the camera close by. I woke up just before 3am and looked over at her. She was curled sideways on her tummy all scrunched up with her butt in the air. When I say sideways, I mean that she had her 22 inch body head to foot in a space that is probably about 12 inches wide. It looked pretty funny. Every time I would turn her back over, she seemed to want to flip right back over. I think I'm fighting a losing battle there.

It's official

Today was my first official day as a stay at home mom. Obviously I've been home with her for the last 11 weeks, but I was supposed to go back to work today, so it's for real now. This is what I was greeted with this morning.

I just love that picture.

She rolled to her tummy last night mostly. She was all the way on her tummy, she just didn't pull her arm through. So her upper body was kind of twisted still. So I don't know if that counts.

Aunt Kelli will be happy to know that Madison has been happily chewing on her I *heart* my aunt bib. It is currently soaked through with drool. I think it's time to try to put her to bed. It probably won't work, but a mom can dream, can't she?

A trip to the doctor

Okay now I have to start this all over. I had it all typed out when it decided to disappear on me. Grr.

We went to the doctor yesterday and everything was still looking good. Yay! She weighed in at 11 lbs 10 oz and was 21 3/4 in long. Don't ask how she managed to shrink 1/4 inch in a month. :) Doc says one of them was obviously wrong... babies don't shrink! She had to get her shots... 3 pricks in one setting, ouch! She wailed her poor little head off. Even the nurse cried for her. I can't imagine having to stick little babies and make them cry like that every day. She slept a lot of the day afterwards. I don't know if it was the Tylenol that made her sleepy or the shots but when she was awake she was crying for several hours afterwards. She was fine by last night, though, and didn't want to go to sleep. She definitely fought us pretty hard. Okay, so I sat idly by while Curtis paced the bedroom until 1:30 with her. Hehe. He's much better at laying her down than I am. She slept until 8:30, though, so who's complaining?

We still haven't moved her into her crib yet, but the bassinet is good up to 15 lbs so we have some time. I don't think any of us are quite ready yet. It will happen eventually. I put her to bed tonight at 9:30 in the hopes that she would stay asleep for a few hours at least, but it sounds like she is waking up. No! I really want her to get into a 9 or 10 bedtime, but no matter when I put her to bed she is wide awake around 11. It's only 10 now, so if she eats one more time and then sleeps for the rest of the night that would be okay. We'll see. She did go to sleep without screaming one night earlier this week. The doc said to expect that for another month or 2. I suppose I can handle that. Once she is asleep she is out for a good stretch, it's just the getting her to sleep thing that's tough.

Well, I better post this before it disappears on me again. I'm not in the mood to type my message 3 times tonight!
