Newest Maddie-ism

She is really big on contractions (grammar, not baby, lol) these days... and her favorite contraction is amn't. She doesn't quite get that she is supposed to say I'm not, so she says I amn't. It took me awhile before I even figured out what it was she was trying to say. She says it all the time though! Too funny!

Oh, and she is really really convinced that she has a baby girl in her belly. She will lift up her shirt so we can see and feel her baby moving. She points out where the head and feet and elbows are. It's so so sweet.

update on everything from past posts...

Madison is feeling better. I think. She is still a little runny in the nose, but not sneezing and snotting like she was the other day. Yay! BUT... guess who is sneezing like crazy now? ME! Ugh. That sucks.

The Febreze stuff seemed to work. My overly hormonal paranoid nostrils thought they still smelled a trace of smoke. BUT... Curtis has overly paranoid nostrils that aren't affected by pregnancy hormones and he thought that it all seemed fine. I trust him. So it's fine. Yay!

Madison did a poopy on the potty! Yay! We had promised her a new pack of underwear once she did a real poopy on the toilet, and she has been so anxious to get some My Little Pony underwear. So yesterday she talked about it all day. She hadn't pooped since Saturday (sorry, TMI), so I was sure she would poop at some point yesterday, whether in her PullUp or the potty. After one unproductive try, she jumped up a little later with huge eyes and said, "Mommy! I have to poopy!" So she sat on the toilet, held her tub of special toilet poopy wipes that we had gotten for her and shooed me out of the bathroom. A few minutes later she announces she is done, and TADA! There it was.... a big ole poop. Yay for her! So last night we went out and got her some Pony underwear. They are all washed and ready to be worn.

And... while we were at Target getting Pony underwear... I bought a pack of diapers! Yay! Still have to scrub that Pack N Play, though. Doing it today.

Cats are crazy. My cats are sitting at the patio door watching Chippy the chipmunk and a couple of squirrels in the yard. Jubilee is shaking her little butt like she thinks she is going to jump right through the screen and catch them. Yeah, I'm sure. As anyone who has come to my house knows, J is scared of her own shadow. If I were to open that screen door, she would run into my bedroom and hide under the bed. No way would she go out there and actually try to get one of them. Shammy got cussed out by a squirrel the other day, though. That was pretty funny.

FYI...

That Febreze Laundry Odor Eliminator better work, because it was pretty expensive! SmileyCentral.com I'll let you know, so you don't go out and waste your money if it doesn't work.

Bath!

Crap! I don't have any baby bath wash stuff either! SmileyCentral.com I'm going to just have a stinky baby!

Seriously... get me off of BabyCenter now!

It's Madness!

Oh my gosh... it's happening again! I'm losing my mind! I'm reading on BabyCenter ( I really need to stay away from there ) all the things that people are freaking out about not having yet for their babies. Seriously... a bouncy seat? Come on! Who cares about a bouncy seat? I don't have any freaking diapers! Or a bed! Although I think I may just end up buying a couple of sheets for the Pack N Play. *sigh* I didn't want to put him in that from birth even though Madison slept in one for almost 3 months after she outgrew her bassinet, but I just can't afford to get even a used bassinet. Not the ones I have looked at anyway. But diapers? I can't bring a child home without diapers! My heart started racing and I almost went into panic mode. LOL. I told Curtis that he had to bring the Pack N Play in so I could scrub it down and it had to be done by tomorrow at the latest. He seemed pretty confused. He stuttered a few times, then finally just said okay. Ahh, you gotta love hormones! And to top it all off... I just went into Jonah's room and opened up his dresser, just to notice that there is still a faint odor of cigarette smoke on the clothes we bought from Craigslist. Ugh. I am going to get some of that Febreze Laundry Odor Eliminator and hopefully it will take care of that. That's what I get for buying things that have been around smoke. What is weird is that I don't remember smelling smoke in the house when we went to pick them up. Hmm. I don't know. I'm just going to trust in the power of Febreze. It never fails, right? Right? So... this is what my big Memorial Day plans are. Wash baby clothes. Scrub Pack N Play. Freak out and nest.
SmileyCentral.com I am a happy pregnant person. Really. I'm not at all psycho.

To top it all off... Madison seems to have a cold. Ugh. She freaking takes Claritin every single night. She is not supposed to get the sniffles. So gross and unpleasant. She cried forever about it last night when she was supposed to be sleeping. It was made worse by the fact that she had spilled water all over her bed earlier in the evening and didn't tell anyone so her mattress was soaked and she had to sleep in our bed with us last night. She really doesn't like sleeping in our bed, so she was crying about being sick AND about not getting to sleep in her own bed. She was just all around miserable, the poor thing. She is still sniffly and has a low fever... hopefully she sleeps better tonight. She passed out in the car earlier and napped until after 8pm, so she probably won't go to bed for a little while still. At least her bed is dry.

Madison's carnival

Hey! I forgot to tell you about Madison's trip to the carnival! Last week (Wednesday, I think) we took Madison to this carnival thingy they have by Payless in Anderson every year. We went last year too, but Madison was too little to ride anything so she just got a Care Bear that Daddy won for her. Anyway... this year, she was big enough to ride on rides and she loved it! She rode the Merry Go Round, these big bear things that spin around, and spinny boat thingy and some little trucks. Daddy rode with her on all of them except for the trucks. She cried that she didn't get to ride the dragon roller coaster, but she was just a hair shy of 36 inches, so I didn't think it would be a good idea. They probably would have let her on, but I'm a mean mommy, lol! And she got to win her own prize this year (she got a doofy little plastic pony thing, but she was happy with it). She didn't want to leave, so we will definitely have to take her to the county fair this year to do some more rides. It was really fun!

a/c update

There isn't anything wrong with our a/c... it was me! LOL! Curtis's buddy John from work figured out the problem in about 2 seconds. The circuit breaker was off for some reason. I didn't even think to go check that. So we had to sweat that day out, but won't have to in the future. Of course... now it is comfortable enough outside that we don't need to use it.

Oh yeah....

I changed out the slideshow from Easter for an online pool where you can guess things about when my baby will be born and stuff. Right now it is empty, so go vote please! It looks so sad! Just click on the ExpectNet banner and it will take you to my pool.

Getting closer!

The lil guy is getting ready! Doc tells me I have to wait another week and a half. He says a June baby is fine, but a May baby is not acceptable. He's head down and dropped into position, which is why I feel like he is about to fall out when I stand up. Oh, if only it were that easy, lol! Maybe my wish to have the baby as a father's day present will come true! Knowing my luck, though, I'll end up going past my due date. Again. He didn't check for dilation, since they don't generally do that until 36 weeks and I am only 34 weeks and 3 days. So at the next appointment I will get to find out if all these painful contractions are actually doing anything down there.

In Maddie news... we got a couple of hand me down hoses from Granny (thanks Granny!) so I hooked our spray nozzle up to it and chased her around the yard with it on Tuesday. She had an absolute ball, so yesterday we went out and found a fun little sprinkler thing for her to play in. It is way cooler in my opinion than the Dora or Elmo ones and cheaper! I'd post a link to one online, but it doesn't seem to exist in internet-land. Hmm. Well, anyway, we got it at Walmart and Madison loves it! It's nice having a way to cool down on these hot days we have been having lately... especially since our A/C doesn't seem to work. Hopefully Curtis will get a chance to look at it this weekend, but odds are we will just be without for now since we can't afford to get it fixed. Not what I want with a new baby in July... hopefully he will be fine. Unfortunately, we don't own a single fan either, so we have pretty much no air movement in our house unless there is a breeze outside. Bleh. I'm really hoping Curtis will be able to figure something simple out with the a/c. But... the alternator seems to be out in his car, so I think that will have to take precedence since he won't be able to borrow a company car forever and I can't be left without a car everyday. Occasionally is fine... but not everyday! Sheesh... when it rains it pours, huh? Hehe, gotta get those cute smilies in wherever I can. Okay, I think that is enough for now! I'll be back if anything exciting happens!

The week in review...

Hehe.... dorky title!

So last week we went to see Meet the Robinsons at the movie theater. It was a pretty cute movie! Madison had seen the preview with the T-Rex that says "I have a big head and very small arms!" and she just had to see the movie. So that was fun. We hadn't taken her to the movies since Cars last year, so it was fun.

Saturday was BSU baseball's last game, so we walked to the ballpark to check that out. Unfortunately, Madison thought we were going to go play baseball, not watch, and she got bored after just two innings. Thankfully, the games are free, so we weren't out anything for having gone. I am surprised to see that they barely ended up winning as they were completely whomping Central Michigan while we were there.

All ready to go!

Watching the action!

Saturday evening we went out shopping and Madison got her first birthday present. It's a sandbox! Seeing as she had been digging in the dirt and even made the comment as we were leaving the baseball field earlier Saturday "I wish I had brought my sand things so I could dig in these rocks!" we decided to go ahead and give it to her as an early present. I don't want to make her wait another 2 months when it is something she will clearly get tons of enjoyment from. There will be plenty of other presents on her birthday, I am sure. We put it up on the patio and she has played in it everyday since she got it. She just loves it!

Oooh, fun!

This is really cool with bare feet!

Yesterday was Audrey's birthday and we went to her party. I can't believe she is 4 already! Madison had lots of fun there playing with Audrey's new toys, lol. She especially loved the tee-ball (shh, don't tell, but Madison is probably getting a tee-ball set for her birthday too) and ponies. Sorry, no pictures from the party... I forgot my camera.

And, of course, congrats to Kelli & Andrew on the new little guy! He is a cutie!

Quack!

Ouch! Madison got bit by a duck! Here Daddy is inspecting it... all was well, and it certainly didn't deter her from feeding them some more bread! We try to get to the duck pond on campus every weekend... this week we didn't make it until Monday, but it was no less fun! Madison loves to run and play hide and seek in all the trees and of course, to feed the ducks. Last weekend we even saw a turtle! And this week there were finally some babies! They were so cute and fuzzy!

As you see in the picture below, the duck bite was quickly put behind us and Madison had loads of fun playing!

I know this was a short entry... I just wanted to put some cute pics up!

another doctor visit

Whew... I feel like I am at the doctor all the time now that I am going every 2 weeks. Soon enough it will be every week... I may as well just move in! Everything is great still. I did get a little bit of a lecture about making sure to drink enough water. And I got a "look" when asked how often I had contractions and I couldn't tell him. He insisted that I start paying more attention so I don't show up 4 cm dilated and it's too late to stop it. Okay... but it is hard to pay attention when I'm chasing Madison around. But I will try. I don't want an early baby, so I guess I had better be safe rather than sorry! I didn't gain any weight in the last 2 weeks, which surprised me a little. But the doc didn't mention it, so I guess it is okay.

Well, I am off to do some housework and have a snack!

He's not a booger!

Cute Madison story from the other day:

We had some ants sneaking in through our patio door earlier this week (I have since sprayed all around the door and they are gone now... whew!) and Curtis and I had been squishing them with toilet paper. So Madison started to help out and as she would squish one she would call it a little booger and then throw it in the trash. For some reason, she caught one on a piece of t.p. and didn't squish it. I told her to go throw it in the trash and she said "No! He needs to go outside! He's not a booger!" So she carried him around for probably 5 minutes on that toilet paper before he fell off. When she realized that he had fallen off she got all upset. "My ant! My ant! I lost my ant! He needs to go outside! He's not a booger!" I'm not sure what made this ant special.... but apparently he was one of the good guys. Hehe!

pottying

So how cute are they?

Pottying is still going very very well! She has been dry for several days now, except at night. I'm not too concerned about nighttime for now, though. I'm not even having to remind Madison to go. She runs up to me saying "I need to potty! Before I potty in my Pull Up!" She has picked it up so well, let's hope she stays with it this well.

We are looking at preschools for the fall. I was hoping to put her in a daycare part time for the summer so she could get used to it some before Jonah came, but I don't think we are going to be able to afford it. Part time daycare is a lot more expensive than preschool, which is expensive enough. She is excited about it though, and definitely ready!

I know the doctor says these braxton hicks contractions are normal, but holy cow! He is head down now, which really puts pressure on my cervix and the contractions are just getting hard to deal with! I had heard that it got worse with each pregnancy (I barely had any with Madison and they didn't hurt), but sheesh. Good thing this is my last pregnancy... if I didn't just jinx myself.

I'm going to go get ready for bed... update more later!

sorry

So sorry about the whine yesterday! I hate when people feel sorry for themselves, and it really came out that way from me yesterday! Can I blame hormones? I just go so up and down sometimes, and that was definitely a down moment. I think it is probably normal too that I feel bad about J getting all hand me down stuff. I would imagine most people who have to give hand me downs to the 2nd children feel bad about it. Or maybe I'm just crazy!

Madison kept right on pottying in the big toilet all day though! She didn't go in her diaper / pull-up until she had to poop right before bedtime. Still working on that one. I'll be happy when it is her pooping in that toilet and not a a yellow smiley guy! Hehe.
