Whew!

No black eye! You can't even tell that she hit it last night. Weird!

Waaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Madison has had a rough couple of days! The trip to the pool was definitely a bright spot in the middle of some serious crying. Yesterday she was playing really well in the nursery with some other kids and a woman that was working in there, so I left to go back to the service. They said she was fine for 10-15 minutes, but then another kid started crying and that worried Madison enough to make her look for me. When she couldn't find me she, of course, started crying. They calmed her down, but she would cry for a second every few minutes. After doing that for 5-10 minutes, though, she apparently lost it. So they buzzed me (they give the parents pagers) and I returned to my hysterical child. She stopped crying the second I took her, but she looked pathetic. :( Of course, nothing went her way after that. She tried pushing a dump truck and the bed of it flipped up and hit her in the face. Tears. She thought I left her alone during her snack when I was really sitting right behind her. Tears. A boy gave her a hug, because he knew she had been sad. Tears. She sat in the rocking chair and another boy wanted to help her rock. Smiles, then tears. She was the littlest one there, so to all the 2 year olds she was the "baby" and they wanted to play with her. I think it was a bit overwhelming. We shall try again, though.

This evening wasn't much better. She was (for some unknown reason) swallowing her Goldfish crackers whole after dinner. So, of course, she gags on one and gets really upset, crying her eyes out. I imagine it hurt her little throat. :( When I put her in the tub for her bath, she was apparently all watered out from the pool and stood up crying the whole time. I think it was the quickest bath ever! Later, after she brushed her teeth, she was throwing things into the tub while I washed my hands. The bath mat was in the laundry room, because she peed on it after I took her diaper off for her bath earlier in the evening. So, of course, she falls and hits her face on the tub. She instantly had a shiner. It swelled and turned purple, but it seemed like it got better before she went to sleep. We shall see in the morning. So she comes into the living room, plops down on her Tigger couch, and throws her head back into the wall. More crying. I wanted to get some laundry folded really quick before I put her to bed, so Curtis was sitting at her little table playing with her. Guess what I hear? Yep, more crying! She apparently fell and hit her nose and chin on the table. On top of everything else, she is teething again, so it's just a really tough time for her!

She is asleep now, so all is well. I think I will go join her. Good night!

Super Hot Days!

It has been very very very hot the past few days! Yesterday we got out Madison's baby pool and squeezed the 3 of us into it. What a sight that was! :D Today I took Maddie to Tuhey pool and we hung out in the kiddie pool for about an hour. It felt soooo good. The water in her baby pool here at home was pretty chilly, but the water at Tuhey was comfortably warm. She didn't hesitate but for a second to sit down in it, and once she was in she didn't want to get out. She kept toddling off of the towel and back to the water's edge during the 15 minute break. I don't know how she could stand it, the cement was so hot that it was burning my feet! Remind me to take her sandals next time we go. I wish it didn't cost $4 per person, but luckily babies are free. So I only had to pay for myself. Madison loved watching the other kids play, and we took her nesting cups to play with in the water. Next time I will take her bucket and a ball. She wanted to play with the other kids’ toys that they left behind when they went to get a snack. She was so exhausted that she pretty much passed out cold when I put her down for her nap. It was really fun, and we will definitely go back. We will have to drag Daddy there sometime on a weekend, so he can play too!

Happy Birthday!

This is several days late, as I didn't know my user name to log on here and the laptop (my login is saved on here) wasn't up and functioning. :)

Madison had an awesome birthday! Her party was Saturday, and Friday night while I was making cupcakes and other stuff in the kitchen, she decided to become a full fledged walker. She still falls a lot, but she is now doing more walking than she is crawling. She just falls every so often and just gets back up and starts again. It was very hot and humid for her outside party on Saturday. It rained all morning, so the grass was too wet to spend any time outside. We mostly stayed in the sunroom, which is small, but we managed. Maddie loved her cupcake, and had lots of fun opening the presents. Thanks to everyone who came!

Sunday we went down to Madison, IN and had a party at Mr Gatti's. That was fun, as she knew this time that she liked cupcakes and didn't hesitate to shove it all into her mouth! We got to see Grandpa Thornton and Gr-Grandma Pauline for the first time and she loved them, of course. She super-duper loves the Care Bear car that she got from Grandpa. I sing that song about the Care Bears coming to your town all day long, lol. That is to say when I am not singing the Wiggles songs from the piano Tommy got for her.

On her actual birthday we went to Applebee's for dinner, but she had no interest in the food we tried to give her until they brought out her birthday sundae and balloons. She loved the ice cream! There were 2 other babies sitting at tables right next to us, and she wouldn't stop staring at them long enough to have a bite of anything decent. :) Other than that we just spent the whole day playing, relaxing, and just plain having fun.

Gingerbread Babies & weed whacking

We made it to Gingerbread Babies this morning, and Madison played shy. :) She wouldn't stand up for the songs at all. There was an 8 month old there who was walking all over the place! 8 months! Her name was Aubrey, and when I told Madison that was Aubrey, she looked at me like I was nuts. I think she thought I said Audrey, and she was thinking... "That is SO not Audrey, Mom!" She did have fun, though. She just stuck by my side and started to cry when I tried to put a puzzle away and leave her on the rug. I'm having her walk a lot more just holding one of my hands, and she really likes doing that. Last night she walked from the car to the house, and after storytime today she was walking all around the library. Apparently she didn't find the book she was looking for, though. :)

She says ""diapy"" now too. When I change her diaper I say it is Diapy Time, and she says "diapy diapy diapy." Very cute!

Well, the Madster is raring to go, so I guess I better put my typing fingers away. Hopefully when Curtis gets home from work, I can go out and whack some more weeds. That is so much fun! :)

Birthday stuff

Madison is walking more and more everyday! Of course, she wouldn't do it at Aunt Gail's on Saturday, so no one gets to see it but Curtis and me. We have video for proof, though, lol!

We are getting so excited for her birthday. It's gonna be loads of fun. We are having a party here on Saturday, then going down to Madison on Sunday for another party. It will be a busy weekend, but should be fun.

Yesterday was Shazam's birthday and tomorrow is Jubilee's. Busy time for birthdays around here! Tomorrow is also Madison's due date + a year. But alas, she had to hang on a few more days. The little stinker. :)

Well, I am sleepy so am going to bed. Check back later!

She's fine!

Just wanted to check in real quick and let everyone know that Madison is fine now. The doctor said she sounds great, and you would never know that she had been sick! He has vacation coming up and is booked solid for well-baby visits, so her 12 month appointment is until she is actually 13 months. So if you don't see me mentioning a doc's appointment for awhile, that is why. It is August 19th at 3pm. Hopefully she will be able to trot right on in there on her own by that time. :)

Happy 6th of July!

Haha! See, I missed the 4th, so I am wishing a happy 6th... okay never mind. :)

Madison has been a sick little bean the past couple of weeks. It started as just a yucky cough, but kept getting worse as the weekend (2 weekends ago) wore on. By Sunday night she had a fever and was just plain miserable. Her nose was running all over the place, and she sounded like she could barely breathe. So... her doctor prescribed some decongestant / cough medicine over the phone to help her sleep. No such luck. We spent all night Monday night up and down, and she was no less congested. So I called back Tuesday morning, and they thought it sounded like sinusitis, so they tried an antibiotic and said to call back if she is still sick in 3 days. Her fever had gone away, but other than that she was no better at all. She coughed so hard at night she would wake up and it even made her throw up one night. :( So... we were in the office on Friday afternoon and the doc said he was very glad I called and brought her in, because she didn't sound good at all. He said it sounded like either (viral) pneumonia or bronchiolitis. He prescribed albuterol to help her breathe (and make her get the crazy shakes!)

Doc: Don't give her any cough medicines or decongestants. We want her to cough it up.

Me: Umm... you prescribed just that on Monday.

Doc: Stop giving it to her!

:) Silly doctor-man. She (finally) sounds mostly better, which is good because she is out of medicine. We go back in the morning so he can listen to her again and see how she is doing. I promise to check back and let you know what we find out.

Whew! That was a freaking novel!

The 4th was super fun. Madison loved the fireworks. She was laughing and pointing and clapping for them. They were set to music (supposedly, although I didn't get it) so some people around us had radios. Of course she loved that. When I was holding her, I sang along to the likes of Stars and Stripes Forever and Proud to Be an American and we danced. It was fun. Curtis's friend Andrew has a kick butt camera and took some awesome pictures that he was kind enough to share. I will play around with pictures later though. All the pictures I want to post are still sitting on my camera. Ha! See, this web page isn't the only thing I have neglected!

Okay. So. I'm kinda tired and will be off to bed soon. Good night!
