checking in

Ugh! I am having a heck of a time getting on here to update. Madison is trying really hard to walk, but she is so attached to that hippo. The other day she actually stood in the middle of the floor and pointed to her hippo when I tried to get her to walk to me. She has taken a few steps here and there though. One of these days she will just take off.

On Tuesday we took a walk with the dog for the first time. I had Madison in her Hip Hammock. I couldn't believe how well behaved Veronica was. She didn't try to pull at all. Such a good girl!

On the topic of the fur-babies, we had to take Jubilee to the vet today. One of her back toenails had grown all the way around and embedded itself in her foot. Ouch! The doc had to cut it out and trim it down, leaving a hole in her pad. She has to take yucky medicine to keep it from getting infected. :(

10 months!

I can't believe she is 10 months already! She is growing so fast. She has really gotten good at standing on her own. For the past couple of weeks she has been letting go on her own and holding it for a second or two, but today she was staying on her own two feet for long stretches of time. She would reach out to steady herself for a second and let go again. :( :) She will be walking before I know it. She will walk back and forth with her hippo all day long! She gets as far as she can go and lets go. Then she turns and looks for me or Daddy to get her turned around so she can go back the other way. It's cute. I let her walk on the driveway with it this afternoon and I was hovering over her. I was so afraid she would fall on the pavement and crack her head open! It's one thing on the carpet, but I was a little nervous on the driveway, lol.

Her new favorite thing to do is shake her head no. She lets us know if she doesn't want something, but she is known to change her mind 10 seconds later. She's silly!

I won a contest

On our BabyCenter birth board, we have a weekly photo contest. The theme this week was Silly Sleeping Positions, and Madison got the most votes! Woohoo! I took a screen capture, so we could remember it.

Happy Mother's Day!

We had a great Mother's Day! We had a cookout at Kristi's house for Mom in the afternoon. We walked over to the hospital to visit my dad. We hope he gets better soon! Later, Curtis and I took Madison to the playground where she enjoyed the swings and digging in the pea gravel. She loves to get dirty! I got the Birthstone Babies necklace I had been wanting. I love it! And Madison loves pulling on it, lol.

We had lots of fun at the Mother / Daughter banquet last week. Madison ate her crackers and some mashed potatoes. I made the mistake of giving her crackers first, so she didn't really want to eat her veggies I made for her. She ate them later, though. I let Madison down on the floor during the program and she crawled all over the place. She had lots of fun!

On Thursday we went to the park with the playgroup, and of course Maddie had to swing! She also played on the merry-go-round which she liked. I helped her go down the slide a couple of times, and then it was on to the grass and dirt. She finally decided that the grass wasn't so bad after all. Especially when there is dirt closeby to dig in! She was such a mess when she got home! I had to change her clothes because they were so covered in dirt. She had fun, though, and that is what matters.

9 month pictures

We finally had Madison's 9 month pictures taken! I think they came out really cute. I can't wait to get them back (5-20).

I *think* Madison is finally feeling better. I don't want to jinx it though. She came down with a very nasty case of diarrhea over the weekend that seems to finally be gone. I really hope so anyway! I don't think my washing machine can take much more!

When I went to wake her up from her nap on Sunday for her pictures this is how I found her:

Naturally I had to run for the camera before I moved her, lol. She must have woken and sat up, then just flopped forward and fallen back to sleep. Who knows how long she slept like that. It must be nice to be so flexible!

Tonight we are going to a mother / daughter banquet at Grandma Perry's church. That should be lots of fun. It will be Madison's first public dinner. She has been to restaurants before, though. She will likely only eat the food I take for her unless there is some macaroni and cheese or something there she can have. I am going to take some mixed veggies cut up and crackers for her to eat. But it will be fun anyway.

I better go make Madison's veggies while she is napping so I am not running around like a crazy lady trying to get them done while she is awake and crawling all over the place.
